Programme Information
UK2Learn programmes aim to teach English to international students whilst having fun at the same time. We use a combination of more traditional English lessons (EFL) and also active based classes. UK2Learn welcomes students of any nationality on to the programme; this also includes English students from the surrounding area who join in the active English classes, sports, excursions and evening programme. Our programmes are designed to culminate in a grand presentation to celebrate and showcase everything the students have achieved during their time on one of our programmes. The presentation, which is attended by local dignitaries, attracts impressive audiences including parents, teachers and all the UK2Learn staff.

1. Will my child be collected from and returned to the airport?
Yes, all students will be met at the airport by a member of staff at the appropriate exit point carrying a board with the UK2Learn logo and your childs name or your childs school name. Your child will also be taken to the airport at the end of the programme and checked through departures. If your child is under 13 and travelling alone, they should travel as an Unaccompanied Minor (UM), your airline will explain this procedure to you at the airport.
2. What happens when my child arrives at the school?
All students will meet the UK2Learn members of staff and other students on the programme when they arrive. During this time all passports and large amounts of money will be collected and stored in the school safe. The students will then be taken on an orientation tour of the school and then shown their room where they will be given time to settle, unpack and then shower if they want. We encourage all students to call home when they are settled. Students will then join in games and activities that will help them get to know each other. The next morning all the students will be given a short placement test which will help UK2learn place your child in a suitable class for the programme.
3. Where will my child be living and sleeping?
Students on UK2Learn holiday programmes will be staying at Priors Field school. Boys and girls are accommodated separately on different floors. The accommodation includes deluxe single rooms with en suite bathrooms which are reserved for the Mothers programme and accompanying teachers. Students are housed in single, twin and triple study bedrooms with shared bathrooms. There will be UK2Learn members of staff at the school 24 hours a day and the school will be securely locked during the night.
4. What type of food is provided on the courses?
Students will eat most of their meals in the school dining hall. There is a large variety of food on offer which also caters for vegetarians. The menu is based on mainly British food but should contain enough variety to suit everyone. Squash, water, tea and coffee are provided throughout the day and there is also a UK2Learn tuck shop that provides soft drinks and snacks in free time. It should be indicated on your childs application form if they have any special dietary requirements or food allergies. Packed lunches will be provided for excursions and refreshments are provided at break times.
5. How much pocket money should my child bring with them?
There is nothing your child must pay for when they join a UK2Learn programme. However, there are some optional extras such as a theatre trip, full day excursion or private tuition that would need to be paid for if selected. Students that wish to bring money for shopping, telephone calls and other incidentals, we recommend up to £100 for a two week programme. It is unnecessary and inadvisable for students to carry large amounts of money.
6. Will my room be lockable?
No. Please note that none of the student bedrooms at UK2Learn have locks. All passports, large amounts of money and other valuables that students wish to be kept secure will be collected by UK2Learn and kept in a safe. UK2Learn does not accept any responsibility for loss or damage to students personal possessions, money or other valuables that are not given to a UK2Learn member of staff for safe keeping.
7. What clothes should my child bring and how often is laundry done?
A clothes and equipment list will be given to all students after their place has been confirmed on the programme. This list will contain all essential clothing and equipment that students should bring. Clothes will be laundered once a week at the school and we advise that all your childs clothing be clearly labelled with their name. Students must bring their own bath towels but UK2Learn can provide spares after a refundable deposit has been paid. Bed linen will be provided by UK2Learn and is changed once a week.
8. What about the safety and welfare of my child on the programme?
The students will be under 24 hour supervision by UK2Learn staff. However, whilst on excursions students are given a short period of free time to go shopping in small unsupervised groups. If you do not want your child to be given any unsupervised free time then please inform us at the time of booking. Several of the UK2Learn staff are trained First Aiders and a medical declaration form will be given to you to complete before your child attends a programme. Your child will be taken to a local clinic or hospital if necessary and treated under the National Health Service (NHS). However, we advise that you take out separate medical insurance.
9. How can we contact our child when they are on the programme?
You will be given an emergency number that you can contact 24 hours a day when your child has been confirmed on the programme. If your child is part of a group with an accompanying teacher, the teacher will be given a UK number that will be given to you before your child arrives. The UK2Learn staff will also take all the students on an orientation tour of the school pointing out the pay phone and internet areas. We advise all students to contact home when they are settled and we help any students that need assistance. Students are also permitted to use their mobile phones in their free time.
10. Can my child follow their normal religious practices while on the programme?
Yes. Please tell us at the time of booking if you would like your child to be able to attend a place of worship during the programme or need any special requirements. UK2Learn also provides a quiet room where students can reflect or pray.
11. Are any visitors allowed during the course and can a family member or friend take my child out for the day?
Yes. We must have permission in writing from you and contact details of the visitor at least 48 hours in advance. This must be done to make sure your child does not miss any important classes or activities.
12. Will any photos be taken of my child during the programme?
Photos and videos may be taken of your child during the programme and may also be used in promotional material. If you do not want your child to appear in any promotional material please email us at:
