Another fantastic Thai Internship comes to and end in style!
The final certificate ceremony was open to all host families, work placements and local dignitaries with the Mayor of Guildford presenting the certificates. The evening began with drinks for all the guests who were then seated for the 'fashion show with a twist'. During the students free time in England a serious amount of shopping took place, so it seemed apt to create a fashion show with all the left over shopping bags. Amazing outfits constructed from Harrods, Sainsbury's and Primark bags to name but a few were paraded down the isle for all the guests. After the fashion show two students performed a traditional Thai dance that wowed the audience. UK2Learn then surprised the students with a, 'this is your life' presentation about their whole experience, from signing onto the programme in Bangkok to completing their class work and working incredibly hard at their work placements, the presentation gave a touching overview of the programme. Next, certificates were handed out to all the students and awards given to those that excelled in the classroom and at their work placement. There was also an overall award given to, Miss Wilasinee Eamsakul (Palmmie) who had given her all during the entire internship programme. Palmmie had this to say, "I now know I can survive away from home! I have travelled to popular places like Big Ben and London Eye, I can serve wine to customers and I know when my English is wrong, such as past and present tense. If I want to be a manager of a hotel I will use all this experience I have gained during my time at UK2Learn". After the presentations and awards all the guests were invited to sample the Thai food which had been prepared by some of the students and their catering teacher. The evening was rounded up with lots goodbyes, photos and even some tears. It was a truly spectacular event! A few of the students goodbye messages have been captured on film; Palmmie Ngek
